To assist the development of adequate, efficient, affordable,
modern and sustainable urban infrastructure services
in the urban areas of Maharashtra through Public Private
Participation and community sector initiatives.
The
objectives of the MUIF inter-alia includes facilitating
access to institutional finance and capital markets
for increased investment in urban infrastructure, reduction
of cost of capital, promote private and community sector
participation, improving creditworthiness of the local
bodies, initiating and sustaining urban institutional
reforms through capacity building, demonstration projects
and policy support.
The
envisaged functions of the MUIF are Project Development,
Capacity Building, Facilitating Finance, and Partial
Direct Lending.
